- 3. To review the revised quotations for repairs to the Village Cross and decide on the preferred supplier.
The Chairman said that English Heritage as part of their proposal to provide a grant to cover the shortfall in funding due to the Lottery Commission’s rejection of the grant request have asked for the tenders to be renewed. He said the two suppliers who were asked to quote are Minerva and Strachey with the latter being the previously chosen supplier. On this occasion Minerva are the cheapest at £75995 compared with Strachey’s £83544 and inside the English Heritage application submission of £82300.
He said it was important that the supplier is selected quickly as the expiry dates of some of the grants are in May & June.
After further discussion it was proposed by Cllr.Mackelden that Minerva Stone Conservation were the preferred contractor. This was seconded by Cllr Mrs H.Reeves and unanimously supported by the Council.
